“Lover” by Pnau
Pnau are slowly creeping up on my radar of people to watch. This sleek electronic jam is the main reason why.

“Time Out From The World (Fields Remix)” by Goldfrapp
While the original is a nice, soothing song in its own right, this remix turns it into a nice, soothing song with some very interesting instrumentation. Just listen to it start to finish. You’ll understand.
“Addicted” by Amy Winehouse
HMV finally had the Deluxe edition of this album. For some reason, the North American edition eliminated one of the album’s strongest tracks - “Addicted” - so I spent months searching for this deluxe edition so I could have it on CD. Plus, the bonus disc is really good as well.
The reason I find “Addicted” is one of Back to Black’s strongest tracks is because of how it summarizes Amy Winehouse’s tragic lifestyle. On top of that, it also shows how she is fully aware of her problems, but that she isn’t strong enough to help herself. And, to add to that, how people just gave up on her when they knew she was having problems.
“DVNO” by Justice
I was a little late hopping on the Justice train. Even though I’ve always been initially interested in them, I never actually got around to getting their album early this year. Of crouse, as most people should know, it’s pretty much amazing.
“DVNO” is my favourite song from the album. The warped accent of the singer and urgent disco string pulses mix perfectly with the chopped-up groove of the music. Plus, it’s just so damn catchy.
“10 Dollar” by M.I.A.
I love M.I.A. and finally bought a copy of the amazing Arular yesterday. “10 Dollar” is one of my favourite songs by her. It tells a story that’s both funny and important over a funky, electroclash beat. Perfect.
“Beatific” by Glass Candy
I’m going to have to start picking up some old Italo Disco records or something because all these throw back songs have me hooked on the style. The most notable Italo Disco inspired record I’ve heard is Sally Shapiro’s Disco Romance, which is a chilly, gorgeous collection of melancholic love songs.
Glass Candy, after having great success on the After Dark label’s compilation record last year, released their debut soon afterwards and it too is full of Italo Disco gems. “Beatific” is my favourite alongside their lush cover of Kraftwerk’s “Computer Love”.
“Me And Armeni” by Emiliana Torrini
Emiliana Torrini is one of my favourite singers. Her first album was shockingly similar to Bjork’s early 90’s dance pop and while it worked, she must have been sick of the comparisons because her second album was a collection of creaky folk songs.
“Me An Armeni” is sort of like a return to her first album’s sound, although it’s not as dance forward as it is just more upbeat. While I miss the folk sound, I’m glad she’s trying out new things. And this song rocks, so she knows what she’s doing.
“Poison My Cup” by Shannon McArdle
I guess having a job has made me forget about this little place of mine. That, and maintaining my main website as well. Anyways, here is a nice song that’s about stuff that isn’t very nice. I like it. A lot.
